Here’s how to get your manuscript into print.
First, contact us and tell us about your project. We
will provide you with typical rates and estimates.
When you’ve chosen Sans Serif, we begin with a project startup meeting,
which can be either in person at our office or on the phone. In this meeting
we discuss the subject matter, target audience, and sales and marketing
plans for your publication.
|

|

Next we create a page design that complements the manuscript and
speaks to your audience. You receive the style needed to establish
your presence in the publishing marketplace.
When everyone agrees on the appearance of the text, we begin constructing
the pages. Your document gets built quickly and easily because we
use current page layout software that integrates text and images.
You receive two sets of first pages, one set of revised page proofs,
and PDF files. |

First impressions are important. Your book’s cover or dustjacket
is what people see first, so it's a powerful marketing tool. Our
designers help you to make the right impression, every time.
As your pages are being created, you confer with the cover designer
about the topic of the book, its audience, sales and marketing plan,
printing budget, and so on. The designer may suggest options that
help you decide on the cover design needs of your publication.
When you receive the initial design for review, you can discuss
it with the designer and request changes. Then you receive the final
design that incorporates any changes. |

|
 |

As soon as we have your manuscript, we set up a production timeline
on a first-come, first-served basis.
If you have publicity events or other deadlines that hinge on the
delivery of your book, be sure to tell us right away, so we can
help you meet them. |

|
 |

Getting your book into print is one thing. Getting folks to buy it
is another. Over the years, Sans Serif has produced some nice-looking
and effective brochures, bookmarks, and other materials for promoting
its clients’ books. If you’re interested in having us
create something like that for your book, let us know; we’ll
show you examples and work with you to develop what you want. |

Please make sure you have already checked the spelling in your manuscript
and performed all appropriate proofreading, because these services
are not included in our page layout prices.
Everybody who writes much knows that their little errors—typos,
missing words, wrong wordings, and so on—become invisible
to them past a certain point. The author sees what the author means
to see. And, even some very accomplished writers aren’t as
careful with their grammar as they mean to be.
If no one but you has read your manuscript, it may not be ready
to publish. Please ask about our copyediting service. It does add
to the cost, but it may help to eliminate some embarrassing flaws
in your otherwise perfect publication. |
| |
|
 |

Submit your manuscript as a word-processing document file, saved
on a 3.5-inch floppy, zip disk, or CD.
Submit any graphics files in the original graphics software format—please
do NOT insert or embed them in your manuscript or another text document.
Note . . .
If your manuscript is not currently in a word-processing program,
we can arrange to have a file created for your manuscript. |
